CAREGIVER SUPPORT AND EMPOWERMENT GROUP

Caregivers of Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) or high-risk youth are invited to a 7-week Support and Empowerment Program, where they will learn about various topics related to their child’s experience as well as practice skills and strategies for creating a positive and supportive environment for themselves and they child.
Topics:
Week 1: Group Orientation, Introductions, Distress Tolerance, Self-Care & Compassion Fatigue
Week 2: Psychoeducation about sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, posttraumatic stress disorder, coping strategies and mindfulness
Week 3: Understanding and preparing for trauma triggers
Week 4: Parenting Strategies Part 1: Walking the Middle Path & Validation
Week 5: Parenting Strategies Part 2: Ways to increase positive behaviors and decrease negative behaviors
Week 6: Specialized Issues: What to do with elopement
Week 7: Specialized Issues: Cell phone and social media use and GRADUATION!
****$10 e-gift card per session attended for each participant****
Caregiver Support Meetings:
- Meetings begin on September 13th, 2021 from 5:00-6:30 pm and will be held every Monday for 7 weeks
- Due to Covid-19, meetings will be hosted via ZOOM
- Support Meetings will consist of education, skill building, support and validation
- Case Management and referrals are available for caregivers and family members
