As 2024 takes shape, there is much to anticipate. This year marks the 35th Anniversary of KidsFirst. We couldn’t be more excited to share past accomplishments while we meet current needs and plan for the future.  We are committed to continuing our existing, successful programming along with introducing new services designed for the Placer County community.

Since 1989, KidsFirst has been providing Child Abuse Prevention services to Placer County through Education, Advocacy and Counseling to empower and strengthen children and families. Since our founding, more than 85,000 children and families have been helped by our direct programs and services including:

  • Parent Educator Program
  • Family Resource Center Support
  • Counseling services
  • Parent Child Interaction Therapy
  • Group Therapy
  • Parenting Classes
  • Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) Support
  • Community Resource Hub for Child Abuse Prevention needs
  • Emergency Housing and Utilities Support

This year we are able to offer additional services to the community that we know will assist in bringing the community resources to strengthen personal and family systems. Classes and groups in the following areas added are:

  • Financial Literacy
  • Nutritious Meals on a Budget
  • Health and Wellness Sessions
  • Parent Support Groups
  • CSEC Suicide Prevention App creation

2024 also will be host to a variety of wonderful events through which the community can join and support:

  • Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show - April 4, 2024 at the Chalet Event Center
  • Child Abuse Prevention Council Resource Fair - April 26th at the Maidu Community Center
  • Big Day of Giving - May 2, 2024
  • Día de Los Muertos Gala - November 2, 2024 location TBD
  • Giving Tuesday - December 3, 2024

It’s the perfect time to get involved and to deepen your commitment to the well-being of kids in our community. Whether it be through volunteering, hosting a house party or a donation drive, a leadership role with our board or on a committee, becoming a monthly or quarterly donor, or sharing our messages through your social accounts and personal networks - there’s a way for you to help! All forms of support are greatly needed and appreciated. Check out our social pages and website for ways to get involved that suit you.

To keep you updated on all the exciting happenings this year, each month we will share success stories which showcase how the power of prevention can and does make a significant impact to our most vulnerable community members – children!  Your continued dedication and support of this wonderful organization will surely ensure that our 35th year is one to remember. I hope you’re as excited as we are to know that even more kids will have happier, healthier childhood memories because of KidsFirst.

With sincere appreciation,

Debbie Gabelich
