Carlos Flores, Forever Fathers Co-Facilitator
Carlos serves as one of KidsFirst’s co-facilitators for Forever Fathers and is passionate about teaching leadership, early childhood education, life balance, cultural awareness, and chemical dependency. He leads the group in a “360-degree learning environment" where everyone is able to learn from one another.
Carlos was born in El Salvador and moved to the United States at the age of nine. He started his higher education career at the University of California, Davis where he received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English. He then earned his master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage Family Therapy and Career Counseling from California State University, Sacramento. He is excited to receive his doctorate this month in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix!
In addition to his studies and duties at KidsFirst, Carlos is the Director of Academic Affairs at University of Phoenix, Sacramento Campus and is a life coach with an emphasis in self-awareness and stress management.
His lifetime of cultural experience combined with his academic training afford him a unique perspective with which to conceptualize and implement various cultural competencies as they relate to mental health and wellness practices. We are very fortunate to have his expertise on our team.
When asked about Forever Fathers, he commented “I love co-facilitating the group because I am able to provide fathers with resources to help them balance all aspects of their lives. I enjoy learning from their life experiences.”
