KidsFirst works closely with other community-based and faith-based organizations as well as county agencies to ensure effective services and evidence based courses to meet the needs of children, parents and families in the community.

The classes we offer not only enhance family functions, improve health & well-being, and stabilize home environments, but they also provide a network of lasting support.

Anxiety Group

Manage Your Anxiety

This class consists of 12 weekly sessions (1.5 hours each) taught by two KidsFirst clinicians. Learn to recognize, identify, and manage symptoms of anxiety as well as coping tools such as relaxation techniques designed specifically for children suffering from anxiety.

For current or waitlisted clients ages 6 - 12.

Emotional Regulation & Social Skills Group

Take Control of Your Emotions

This class consists of 12 weekly sessions (1.5 hours each) taught by two KidsFirst clinicians. Learn a variety of skills to help regulate your emotions, manage your reactions, and cope with difficult situations.

For current or waitlisted clients ages 6 - 12.

Financial Literacy

Enhance Your Skills & Understanding of Finance

Learn key concepts such as managing a limited income, budgeting, saving, investing, understanding credit, and planning for the future. By understanding these concepts, you are better prepared to navigate the financial decisions you'll encounter in your daily lives and in the future.

Health & Wellness Option

Zumba is a fun and invigorating Latin-inspired dance workout. Learn to activate different muscle groups at once for total body toning while you boost your heart health. You'll not only receive aerobic benefits, you'll also get anaerobic benefits – that help you maintain a good cardiovascular respiratory systems.

Cooking & Meal Prep

Health & Wellness Program Option

Eating nutritiously does not have to be expensive. Some planning ahead and smart food substitutes will help get the healthier results from your food budget.

Join us and learn to cook simple, nutritious meals for your whole family. We will teach you simple steps on meal planning on a budget, and share some tips and tricks for preparing healthier meals.

Cooperative Coparenting

Through Separation or Divorce

This newly revised 8-week interactive co-parenting program helps separating parents shield their children from parental conflict while establishing a positive and cooperative relationship as co-parents. Learn skills needed to manage anger, increase impulse control, resolve conflict, and communicate effectively. Court approved certification upon completion.

Forever Fathers

Improve Yourself and Your Relationships

In this 8-week course specifically designed for dads and caretakers, participants learn and discuss positive father involvement, anger management, modeling for children, roles, rights and responsibilities, mentoring other struggling fathers, and other issues pertinent to fatherhood. Talk with other fathers in a confidential environment about the hardships and challenges men often experience including anger, stress, depression, relationship problems, and parenting skills.

Mandated Reporter Training

Speak Up for Children In Need

Learn the definitions, requirements and protections of the California Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act. 

You will learn : 

  • How the law defines child abuse and neglect
  • What the law requires of you as a mandated reporter
  • What protections the law provides for a mandated reporter
  • How to spot evidence of child abuse
  • How to report child abuse
  • What happens after a report is filed
